When you come to Sunset Inn & Suites, we want to make sure that you have as much information as possible about where to go to have an amazing trip to Vancouver. Each year, we carefully craft our guest directory. This is that guide.

In-Hotel Guest Information

For the benefit to all our guests, we ask you to limit noise between the hours of 10pm and 8am.

All our rooms and balconies are Non-Smoking. The City of Vancouver, by law, forbids smoking within 3 meters (10ft) of any doorways. Violating this smoking bylaw will result in a fine of up to $2500.

If you need to smoke, there is an ashtray area outside the main doors (facing Burnaby Street) on the left (east) side of the building.

Complimentary Internet Access

Complimentary high-speed wireless internet is offered in all rooms and in our lobby. Your room also has a hardwire connection; with Ethernet cable on in all rooms attached to holder, to use it during your stay.

To connect to our secure wireless network, please follow these instructions:

  1. Open the list of wireless connections on your device.
  2. Click on the “SUNSET INN” network.
  3. Enter the password provided to you in your “Welcome letter” provided at check-in.
  4. Click on JOIN.
  5. A “checkmark” beside “SUNSET INN” will show that you are connected.
  6. You will then see the “Press to Agree” page that takes you back to our Guest Portal Page, which also provides up-to-date hotel, and city information and link to photo contest (when active).

You will have to access the “Press to Agree” link every 7 days to stay connected. Then you can press the cancel button in top right corner and will bring you back to page you were loading, prior to having to Press to Agree again, to go onto the Internet.

If you are having trouble with the wireless internet, try these options:

Option 1: Log out of your wireless connection and try to re-connect again

  • Check within the main browser you are using- such as Safari, or Google
    • Block Pop-ups – MUST BE ON
    • Block Cookies – Always allow or allow from Website/Visit
  • Then try again to connect

Option 2: Restart computer and/or phone and try logging in again

Option 3: Call our Front Desk for help.  While our staff will do their best to help you, please remember that they are not computer technicians, BUT NOT TO WORRY. They can call our service provider: Shaw Business to get you connected from 9am until 4pm

Also: You can use the hard-wired connection in your room or our guest computer at the Front Desk

There is also an internet café within a short walk from Sunset Inn & Suites.  Please consult the Front Desk for assistance.

Secure Bicycle Storage

Please note that bicycles are NOT permitted in any of our guest rooms.

Bicycle racks are conveniently located in a locked storage room on the lower parking level. Your room key will allow you access to this room 24/7.  Be sure to lock your bike within the room, as other guests also have access.

Housekeeping Services

Daily housekeeping is suspended until 2021 due to Covid-19. Please see welcome letter for details about housekeeping services available.

Bathrobes & Slippers

The Executive King 1 Bedroom, Executive Large 1 Bedroom, Large 1 Bedroom suites comes equipped with large (gold trim) and extra-large (black trim) adult sized bathrobes and slippers located in your closet for you to use during your stay.

The King 1 Bedroom, 2 Double Bed Studio, and 2 Twin 1 Bedroom suites come equipped with large adult sized bathrobes, located in your closet for you to use during your stay

If you require slippers during your stay, they are available in small, medium and adult large at a minimal cost of $3.00 (tax included) per pair from the Front Desk.

We also have children-sized bathrobes – small and medium.  If you require them, that are available at the Front Desk.

Coffee

You’ll find complimentary Van Houtte Columbian coffee in your room and freshly brewed Van Houtte Columbian coffee included with the breakfast form from 8am – 11am.

In the lobby, our coin-operated Van Houtte Latte Lounge unit for the cost of $2.00 per 12oz cup of one of the best fresh-brewed choices of coffees, cappuccinos, lattes, mochaccinos, and hot chocolates, made with freshly brewed and ground whole beans. You can also purchase Van Houtte and Starbucks K-cups at the Front Desk.

Parking

Parking stalls are available in the rear of the Sunset Inn & Suites, on the upper and lower parking levels and in the back lane. If you can’t find a space, please see the Front Desk staff and we will give you some other options.

You will receive a complimentary parking pass upon check-in. Be sure to place your parking pass on the dashboard of your vehicle so that it is visible. If you don’t display a valid pass or if your pass can’t be seen, your vehicle may be subject to towing.

Complimentary one vehicle per room per spot while staying at the Sunset Inn & Suites overnight. Gated parking is for one car while staying at the hotel – a complimentary rarity in Vancouver.

Sorry NO visitor parking for just visiting guests after 4pm. There are pay parking lots in back alley for if you have guests visiting after 4pm, as hotel parking is limited for guests use only

Use the loading zone in front of the hotel to check in and a staff member will give you the pass and key to enter the parking area in back of the hotel.

We can’t accept any responsibility for any valuables left in your vehicle so please take them up to your room.

Laundry Facilities

You may wash and dry your clothes in our 24-hour, coin-operated laundry facilities on the main floor of the hotel.

  • Wash: $2 for 30 minutes
  • Dry: $2 for 45 minutes (Extra time can be added while running for a fee)
  • Laundry detergent: Complimentary
  • Fabric softener: Available from the vending machine beside the laundry room

Both machines only take Canadian $1 coins (“Loonies”) and/or $2 coins (“Toonies”). You can get change at our front desk.

Television

Your suite comes with HDTV, Digital Radio and a Blu-Ray player.

Want to relax and watch television? The TV in your room offers you many choices. The SHAW remote control controls the TV and HDTV box, as well as the LOGITECH remote controls the Blue-Ray player.

For more information and channels, you can press the “GUIDE BUTTON” on your SHAW remote. High Definition (HD) plus package channels available on all televisions – If that station has an HD channel, it will automatically view default to that channel from the guide.

DVD & Blu-Ray Players

We have more than 300 complimentary movies to watch and enjoy in your room. To choose one, please feel free to review our list of DVDs at the back of this directory, write down the code of the movie you’d like to watch and bring it to our Front Desk. Unfortunately, you can only sign out one DVD at a time and must be returned by 4pm the following day.

Exercise Facility

Open 24 hours, our exercise room offers you a choice of treadmill, spin bike and elliptical trainer, along with some free weights, a yoga ball, and mat. Please book time to use at the Front Desk staff and get the key. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and only people within your group to a maximum of 6 total allowed in room during time booked.

Use of equipment is at your own risk.

Umbrellas

For that rare occasion when it rains in Vancouver, we offer complimentary umbrellas. You can sign one out at out the Front Desk. (There will be a $25.00+ tax charge if umbrellas not returned)

Beach Towels

During the summer months, with the hotel being only 3 blocks away from some of Vancouver’s favorite beaches and outdoor pools, we offer complimentary beach towels. You can sign one out at out the Front Desk. (There will be a $25.00+ tax charge if beach towels not returned)

Newspaper Delivery

Complimentary copies of the Globe & Mail are available Monday to Saturday in the lobby. If you’d like complimentary delivery to your door each morning, just let the Front Desk Staff know.

Business Services

You are more than welcome to use our guest laptop computer that can be signed out at the Front Desk to check your emails and print boarding passes in the lobby and printing will come in at the front desk. You may also use our fax and photocopy and printing services.

Mail

Parcel, courier, and postal services are all available at our Front Desk. Incoming mail will be delivered to your room.

Cribs & High Chairs

Please ask at the Front Desk which are complimentary during your stay to use.

Currency Exchange

We can exchange up to $50US at our Front Desk. For larger amounts and/or other currencies, please ask our Front Desk staff and they will be able to direct you to the appropriate banks and/or foreign exchange bureaus.

Ice Machine

You can get ice from the machine located in the laundry room nearest to the lobby. Ice buckets are available in your room as well as a bottle opener. Extra ice bucket liner bags are available at the Front Desk.

Vending Machine

Soft drinks, potato chips, chocolate bars, fabric softener, and other items are available in the vending machine beside our laundry room in the lobby. You can get change at our Front Desk.

In-Room Safes

For your convenience and safety, we recommend that you leave all valuables (cash, traveler’s cheques, jewelry, etc.) in the safe deposit box located in the closet of your room. The safe is unlocked when you arrive.

Here are the instructions for using it:

  1. Place your items in the safe and close the door
  2. Enter a 4-digit code of numbers. You will need this same code to later unlock the safe, so please make sure to remember it. For safety and security reasons, do not use your room number.
  3. Press the “Lock” button. You will hear the safe lock.

Enter the 4-digit code to open.

We are not responsible for any items not locked in the in-room safes.
