December 21st is the shortest day of the year which marks the Winter Solstice, this means it is the peak of the long dark nights in the northern hemisphere and in a few weeks time the longer days will be noticeable and celebrated.
It is also Christmas day on Friday and it is going to be a special one as we have the rare event of a Full Moon dazzling the night skies for the first time since 1977, the next Christmas full moon will be way into the future in the year 2034!
