Here is another New Year – and that means a new year full of great events for you to enjoy in Vancouver….
POLAR BEAR SWIM – JANUARY 1st ENGLISH BAY 2pm
Start New years day off with a well earned dip in the Ocean – but wait, its January 1st! This can mean only one thing and that it is the annual Polar Bear swim down at English Bay.
This tradition has been occuring since 1920 and has grown and grown over the years, now it is so popular it has become a staple for vancouverites and tourists alike and now has become so popular that people get into Fancy Dress mode just for the occasion.
Please remember that the waters are extremely chilly at this time of year, they can get to a bone numbing 3c – and if the forecast is correct, it is due to be Sunny but but cold with the air temperature dropping as low as 0c – so make sure that you have warm clothing on hand and ready to bring the temperature back up after you have taken your dip!
