If you were to find a meaning for “off season”, how would you define it? Would it be all about rest and relaxation? Would it be about snowshoeing on the local mountains? Have you been to Mount Seymour or Grouse Mountain yet? A lot of us locals tend to head up to these parts to take advantage of the well-packed snow. What about Whistler-Blackcomb? During the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, Whistler was used for a variety of events and it also became very popular hot spot when Jon Montgomery, a Canadian skeleton athlete won a gold medal and did the infamous beer walk through Whistler Village shortly after winning his medal. Whistler is also an amazing place for downhill skiing as well as snowboarding.
Is that how you would spend your off season or is there something more that you would like to do?
Vancouver is a city that like New York we “never sleep”. Okay maybe we’re exaggerating just a little! Granville Street (aka.: Vancouver’s “Entertainment District”) is a very lively place to be on most nights especially on weekends.
With Vancouver, our off season also involves our NHL team of the Vancouver Canucks. We are Canadian and we love our hockey. The Canucks are in the middle of a rebuild where our team is being centered around youth and we hope to be a better team in the next few years so bear with us, we’ll be a contending team again soon.
There is a lot more to do in Vancouver than just skiing, snowboarding, watching Canucks hockey. Why not head over to the Vancouver Aquarium for a day with the otters, killer whales, penguins or check out the jelly fish? This is a great idea for a rainy day in the city, not that it rains in Vancouver though, we prefer to call it “liquid sunshine”.
Let’s enjoy this off season together shall we? We would absolutely love it if you stayed with us. We hope to see and serve you soon. Remember, you are always welcome here!
