Jim Deva Plaza in the heart of Davie Village is now open!

The time has come for the transformation of the intersection of Bute and Davie street to be officially unveiled as the new Jim Deva Plaza in the heart of Davie village in time for the Pride weekend. This designated area has been designed to be the very first Pavement to plaza area in Vancouver and is a fitting tribute to Jim Deva who tragically passed away in 2014.

JIM DEVA & LITTLE SISTERS EMPORIUM
Jim was and still is unquestionably one of the most important and influential figures of the Vancouver Gay community, way back in the year 2000 he bravely stood up and fought the Supreme court of Canada and won the fight. This was due to an incident in December 1985 when Canada Customs agents declared a shipment of books and magazine bound for Little Sister’s obscene, and confiscated them. This was a landmark ruling that stunned Canada and really jettisoned Jim Deva to be an iconic hero and figurehead in the LBGTQ community.
