Spring in Vancouver

Wednesday, February 18th, 2015

As the rest of Canada is still locked in the deep cold of Winter, it is looking and feeling more like the end of April in Vancouver. The rains have cleared away and we anticipate that the Flowers, trees and wildlife are going to be waking up from the slumber of the long nights of Winter.

Here we want to show you what Vancouver has to offer during the Spring time – it is one of the most gorgeous seasons as the city erupts in Colour and life!

WHALE WATCHING
Wild Whales Vancouver offer great trips to watch the majestic Whales as they swim through the Georgia Strait. The Whales will be migrating sooner than April when Wild Whales begins its operations so if you travel between Vancouver and Victoria you may catch them.
Beginning in April and departing from Granville Island in downtown Vancouver, the Wild Whales experience allows you to observe Killer Whales and the diverse wildlife of the Pacific Coast in their natural habitat. It is an unforgettable, trip of a lifetime!
Board one of our three vessels at Vancouver’s unique and historic Granville Island. Keep your cameras ready as you travel down False Creek and into English Bay, where the views of Vancouver, the Coast Mountains and Stanley Park are unparalleled. From English Bay, we pass the Fraser River estuary into the Strait of Georgia.

CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL
This annual festival for us heralds the fact that Spring is well and truly here, the city looks absolutely incredible once the Blossoms are in full bloom, it is impressively bright and really tells us that the gloom of Winter becomes a distant memory.

Best Places to View Cherry Blossoms in Vancouver
“This is why I live here!” is a phrase many Vancouverites exclaim during cherry blossom season. Each spring, as the rainy season fades, city dwellers pack their sweaters away and are rewarded with one of the world’s most cheerful sites: 40,000 cherry trees bursting with pink and white blooms.

The West End is flush with the Blossoms, Harwood St which is one block South of us becomes quite an impressive site, also, check out Bute St the architecture and the trees make this street look very romantic.
Vancouver’s many parks and gardens are ideal showcases for the beloved trees, but there are also a number of urban places to view these pink beauties.
Queen Elizabeth Park touts several varieties of cherry trees, which bloom at different intervals throughout early March and late April
Stanley Park also has rows of blossoming trees near the formal rose garden and the Japanese Canadian WWI war memorial
VanDusen Botanical Garden boasts more than 100 cherry trees, representing 24 varieties.

Black Friday Shopping in Vancouver & Posh Shopping Tours

Friday, November 14th, 2014

Around the time of the US Thanksgiving it is not unusual to have many of us Canucks flock down to the States to enjoy the copious amount of Sales that Black Friday brings. It is true that many of us north of the border wish that we will see more Sales happening here and in all fairness some retailers are starting to buy into the idea so that more consumers shop here locally.

The last few years around the Thanksgiving period we have seen many retailers along Robson St, Pacific Center Mall and of the huge Metrotown metropolis mall have some amazing sales in the week leading up to and beyond Thanksgiving, we anticipate that this year will be no different. In fact, with the Canuck Dollar dropping we feel that more and more Canucks will want to shop locally due to the difference in the Dollar. Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that Black Friday makes Vancouver proud!

Best shopping Districts of Vancouver
Robson St
Just a 10 minute walk north from the Sunset Inn & Suites hotel this is the most well known shopping district in the downtown core. Here you will find all the premier well known Brands, international designers and high fashion. A great street lined with benches, street artists and many places to dine and drink in between shops, this is the place for the serious shopper!

Pacific Centre Mall & Granville Street
This is pretty much a continuation of the Robson St District – the Vancouver Art Gallery is the dividing point between the 2 areas, where Robson St and Granville St connect you will find more popular stores and places to eat for you pleasure. Head one block north on Granville Street and you will come across some very popular stores such as The Bay and across the street the Pacific Center Mall which has popular brands such as The Apple Store and H&M to name but a few.

There is another great way of shopping so why not try a Shopping Tour?
Posh Shopping Tours
Posh Shopping Tours have it all figured out, not only will they help you with your Shopping needs but you will also get to visit the best shopping districts that Vancouver has to offer, we feel this is a great concept as the majority of visitors that come to the city do not get to explore these districts which is a shame. Vancouver is actually a surprisingly small city considering its stature and status in Canada and the world stage, however, many visitors tend to stay put in the ‘bubble’ of the downtown area and like many that live here we tend to stay where we are. Posh Shopping tours will actually take you a that little bit farther afield to some very special districts such as the eclectic and bohemian areas like Commercial Drive (which is in the East Vancouver area), Main St and of course the older and very trendy downtown area that is Gastown and the downtown shopping district that is of course Robson St.

The Tours are run by the wonderful Brandy Kawulka who is a self made entrepreneur – Brandy is no stranger to running a successful business as she and her husband Paul Keller set up their first venture called Wood be Art http://www.woodbeart.com/ which specializes in custom made wood furniture and has been a success for quite some time now, they both met in school while studying woodwork so you are seriously talking to the real deal professionals in Wood work.
Brandy’s latest venture Posh Shopping Tours looks set to just grow and grow – Brandy has an obvious eye for detail and is attentive to what people need, it is such a good idea to fuse sightseeing and shopping in one package with someone who is knowledgeable of the surroundings and obviously cares for Vancouver and fashion.

Not only will you be able to shop for what you desire, the tour will also help you get to know the areas you are in while you are at it, so your group will be able to get some sightseeing around the district that has been specifically chosen to suit your needs, and, when you are ready you can shop shop shop to your hearts content.
The tours will completely cater to the fashion and style that you are looking for, so if you are a complete Fashionista that
cannot get enough of the variation of styles such as Vintage, high end expensive brands or something that is cheap and comfy this will be no challenge at all!

Vancouver has a fantastic shopping scene and it is quite noticeable with the different styles of fashion that the locals choose to wear. The one thing that is very obvious about the fashion in Vancity is that if you find yourself in a different neighbourhood not only is the scenery different but so is the dress sense of the people, fashion seems to dictate the area in quite a remarkable way, and what with Vancouver being known as the City of neighbourhoods it makes sense that each area has an individual style and striking identity. If you are visiting the city and want to treat yourself to a good dose of shopping but do not know where to go or you are simply just at a loose end with ideas, well, help is at hand…
